James Coffee Studios > 11/22/2009. November Bernardo Bay, Escondido, California.

Cheryl and I were on a San Dieguito River Park sponsored hike on the Piedras Pintados (Painted Rocks) trail to the south of Lake Hodges at Bernardo Bay. Mike Thacker was an excellent hike leader.

Lake Hodges is low at this time of year. Two tributaries can be seen flowing into the lake. One is at the lower left and the other is joining it. flowing from the right.

The hike was beautiful. The weather perfect. About 20 hikers. The signage on the hike as great. I will return in the spring, will take a full day, and will photograph the signage and the plants and trees.

Many people were out enjoying the trails, either hiking or biking.

How many hikers/bikers do you count. I think I see 19.

This image was captured at the end of a San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy ESP hike in the Santa Ysabel Open Spaces Preserve East.

The day was beautiful, the weather perfect, and the hikers all fit and trim. The theme of the day was "Tracking" so we spent a lot of time looking down for scat and prints. We were successful at learning a lot.

James Coffee Studios > 10/25/2009. Ribbon Bridge and Bottom Grass, Escondido, California.

On this gently foggy morning we see the David Kreitzer Lake Hodges Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge spanning the upper end of Lake Hodges. It is October...rained has not yet fallen this season...the Lake Hodges water level is dropping.

At this stage we seen a fertile 'wetland'. Lots of mud, grass, and the trunks of dead trees that have grown and then been drowned. Bass love to lurk around the base of these trees. Birds love to feed in the shallow water and the mud.

A beautiful Lake Hodges morning.
